Take Advantage of Your Member Benefits: TXCPA Houston CPA-PAC Opportunities!

  • Published on May 24, 2021

The current membership year is nearing the end. Your 2021-22 membership offers you a myriad of opportunities to serve your professional organization and provide community support.

One way you can be involved is with the TXCPA Houston CPA-PAC. Member-managed. Member-driven. Member-focused political action committee.

The local PAC Steering is responsible for PAC fundraising, administering the key person program in the Houston area, and stimulating interests in Texas political affairs. The committee meets 2-3 times per year, allows members to deliver checks to Texas state representatives and senators, and there are subcommittees that offer the best choice for your interest.

CPA-PAC is non-partisan and is registered with the Texas Ethics Commission.

CPAs have too much at stake to commit anything less than 100 percent to political efforts. The TXCPA PAC works closely with local chapters’ PAC to determine which policymakers should receive CPA-PAC contributions.

Of all the funds donated to the CPA-PAC, 75 percent of all donations go to the local chapter for contributions to local lawmakers and 25 percent is donated to candidates in campaigns for statewide offices, such as governor, lieutenant governor, state comptroller, and others. See  CPA-PAC Funding 2021  (Updated May 2021). Contribution decisions are based upon a candidate’s position on issues of importance to CPAs, the strength of the opposition, the level of the candidate’s influence, their need for funds, and incumbency.

  • For updates on the current Texas Legislative Session, click here.
  • Participate in the local CPA-PAC and be a part of the process to support the candidates who offer the greatest benefits to the CPA profession.
  • A key person is needed for Rep. Troy Nehls (R-22) Sugar Land. Be a lead contact between TXCPA and Representative Nehls’ office to voice comments on pending legislation before the House votes.
