Member-Benefits

The 2020-21 membership year is nearing the end. With the new fiscal year comes new committee rosters, leadership opportunities, and activity planning.

Did you know that TXCPA Houston offers open membership on many of the committees? Options abound – groups that plan conferences and shorter CPE offerings, and several committees include community service activities, year-round.

Membership Development or Young Professionals Committees – serve on a subcommittee and help plan networking events, educational programs, and build your network one member at a time through outreach programs! Time commitment = about one hour each month.

CPAs Helping Schools/Accounting Career Education – grants are provided to local schools, grades PreK-12, for educational programs, and volunteers participate in career events, many still virtually. Fundraising activities need volunteers to help with planning, research and execution. Help this committee give back to the community and help prepare tomorrow’s leaders for their future! Time commitment = about one hour each month.

Student Auxiliary Steering Committee – professionals are needed to work with the student officers as they plan and execute their 2021 – 2022 accounting career events. This year the students successfully transitioned to a Zoom virtual programming option, and this will continue in the Fall semester. Time commitment = two to three hours per month, September – April.

Continuing Education Planning – Energy, Personal Financial Planning, and CFO/Controller Conferences; Tax Expo; Spring Accounting Expo, and CPE by the Sea; Forensic & Valuation Services, and more!

Committee membership and leadership can bring you one step closer to serving on the Board of Directors, either at a TXCPA state level or your local chapter.

If you have interest in volunteering on a committee, or in a leadership position, please contact Membership Manager Carol Spencer.
