Fort Worth Now is looking for practicing CPAs and accounting professionals willing to assist small businesses in preparing their applications for the second phase of Preserve the Fort grants from the City of Fort Worth. They need volunteers that can set aside at least 2-3 hours. Current plan is to have volunteers meet via phone with applicants in 30 minute intervals.
In order to receive Preserve the Fort funds, applicants will need to provide a profit and loss statement for year end 2019, as well as a profit and loss statement for 2020 showing data monthly. A common issue with completing applications in Phase I of Preserve the Fort was that many applicants had never prepared a P&L before. The city is hoping to match volunteers with applicants in order to make sure the documentation requirements are not a hindrance to completing applications.
There will be a brief tutorial for volunteers with City staff via Zoom so that volunteers can become familiar with the process for being paired with applicants, as well as the application itself. The training will be recorded so that volunteers that aren’t able to join the scheduled tutorial can still participate.
